for Occupational Injuries |

The Compensation for Occupational Injuries
and Diseases Application has been developed for the Department
of Health, Western Cape Administration, which will be used
to capture information on government employees who get injured
at work. This information relates to the injury as well as
the recording of all documentation that has been submitted
by the employee according to the compensation fund requirements.
|
 |
| |
The
application has been designed with an easy-to-use interface
such that all info regarding a claim can be obtained
via that employee's persal number. In order to fast
track the process of injury compensation, all necessary
documentation that requires follow-ups are flagged on
the system. A list of all documentation filled in by
the employee is date stamped. In addition, a DateToCC
field also indicates when the required documentation
has been sent to the Compensation Fund. |
|
| |
Hence, the employees claiming
for compensation can also obtain info on the status of their
claim, or whether there is any outstanding documentation that
still needs to be completed by contacting the users of this
application. Ultimately, for the compensation fund itself,
this application will give an indication of which employees
have been compensated for their injuries and the actual amount
paid for injury compensation against the allocated budget. (http://www.issa.org.za/coida ) |

COIDA Application goes live!!
After several feedback sessions during August to November 2007, the COIDA was successfully converted from a desktop MS Access apllication to a fully functional Open Source Online Application.
Having pleased all the requests from all the users/clients, especially Mr Roderick van Aarde (who is not in the photo's), the application was successfully launched. Below is the entire team that made this project a success.
