| Every year, all Government departments in RSA have strategic planning sessions to map our implementation plans and service delivery targets for that financial year. These strategic plans are reviewed bi-annually to ensure that business plan of the department (organization) are kept in alignment with target goals that need to be achieved relative to units within the Government departments. Monitoring the progress of the department against these strategic objectives are conducted on a quarterly basis. Although the data is captured electronically, most of these activities are time consuming manual processes, often requiring the coordination of diaries and people. ISSA, with the help of the Department of Communications (DoC) has decided to create an Organizational Performance Management system that will allow users from the different units in an organization to input these plans online. Users will all be able to report on their performance. Friendly email reminders also inform users to update the progress to ensure a timeous performance reporting. A performance dashboard with bar and pie graphs also allows users to view and analysis the performance of a unit or the organization by the click of button |

Strategy Planning This application allows full maintenance of the transactions and users within a unit/branch can insert, delete, update & view information such as Key Focus Areas, Goals, Objectives and targets. Although there was several design constraints with the cascading of the information from the Key Focus Area down to the quarterly milestones being 8 dimensional, the application is still easy-to-use and is represented in a 2-dimensional format. |

Performance Reporting Users can report on their performance on the quarterly basis per year. Information on previous and forthcoming milestones are also displayed to give an indication of what they have already achieved and what still needs to be achieved for that particular milestone. However, users are only allowed to update the performance for that specified quarter. To give a more accurate account of the performance, depending on the progress indicator chosen, the users are forced to fill in the corresponding reasons for the progress. For accountability, only users assigned to that milestone within that branch can update their performance information ; |

Performance Dashboard The performance dashboard gives you a snapshot of the performance of a branch within the organization. After the milestone tasks have been updated, the results can be viewed in graphical format by the click of a button. To promote transparency, all users in the organization are able to view the performance of any branch within the organization. All achievements for a time period within that financial year are also listed in a table format. |
